The Policy Service is a component
of our general representation of Ohio's boards of education.
Our
Legal Experience Works For You
The attorneys of Pepple & Waggoner are highly experienced in school
law in the State of Ohio. We are in an excellent position to provide
you with high-quality, prompt and competitive services regarding the
review, revision, update, and drafting of school board policy manuals.
We offer customized service, provided by licensed attorneys, based
on need, efficiency and compliance with law. We have first-hand knowledge
of problems faced by Ohio school districts and can help you to reduce
or eliminate potential problems.
We Tailor Our Approach To Your Needs
Whether your board needs selected sections revised or needs its entire
manual replaced, Pepple & Waggoner’s Policy Service can
make your manual more useful. Pepple & Waggoner’s philosophy
is that streamlined, accurate policies are more beneficial than policies
which are unnecessarily long. Generally, we recommend policy manual
consultation only for matters that are not adequately covered by state
or federal laws, regulations or collective bargaining agreements,
or for those situations where a statute or regulation specifically
requires that a school board adopt a policy. We will help you to develop
a manual that meets your needs and represents the philosophy of your
school district.
Our Scope of Services
Our firm of experienced school law attorneys will review, revise,
and update the current policy manual of the board of education, including
administrative regulations, job descriptions, forms, and student handbooks
as necessary. At a minimum, the following services will be provided:
• Review of current board policies and administrative regulations
• Seek input from your board of education and administration
regarding the content of the policy manual and regulations to ensure
that it is unique and reflective of the school district
• Revision of policies and regulations that do not conform to
existing constitutions, laws, rules and regulations
• Update or delete policies that have become obsolete
• Development of new policies mandated by recent legislation
and/or court decisions
• Addition of mandatory policies that are not currently in the
policy manual
• Review of updated policy manual with your board and administration,
if requested
• Board adopted policy accessible through the district’s
website
We'll Keep Your Policy Current
The new policy manual will be kept current
through communication between the firm and the administration, and
periodic updates will be provided at a cost
based upon the firm’s normal hourly billing rates.
