SUSAN
G. CLARKSusan G. Clark was born in Chicago,
Illinois, and moved with her family to Berea, Ohio when she was thirteen.
Upon graduation from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, she began her
professional career as a special educator in the Cincinnati area
teaching high school students with learning disabilities and later,
those with severe emotional disturbance in the Berea City Schools.
While teaching, she earned her Master’s Degree in Educational
Administration and Instructional Services at Xavier University. She
has held a number of administrative positions in the public schools
of southwestern Ohio both at the building and central office level
and has worked with the Positive Education Program.
In 1997,
Ms. Clark earned a Ph.D. in Educational Administration at Kent State
University and produced an award-winning dissertation. She earned
her law degree from the University of Akron McDowell School of Law
in 2005. While at law school, she earned the CALI Excellence for
the Future Award in 2004 for highest academic performance in trial
advocacy and in 2005 for juvenile law. Ms. Clark has been of counsel
with Pepple & Waggoner
since November, 2005.
Ms. Clark is a member of the Ohio Council
of School Board Attorneys as well as the Ohio State, Akron and Cleveland
Bar Associations. Ms. Clark is licensed to practice in all state
courts in Ohio and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District
of Ohio.
Ms. Clark is also an associate professor in
the Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership at the
University of Akron where she teaches school law, disability
law, and other leadership and management courses for practicing
and prospective school leaders. Ms. Clark has numerous journal
articles and book chapters published in the area of special education
and school law and is a frequent speaker at local, state, and
national conferences, including as an invited speaker at the
Education Policy Roundtable at Oxford University, Oxford, England.
