Mrs. Cheryl T. Maimona was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and was raised
on a farm in Delaware County, Ohio. She graduated from Centerburg
Local Schools and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The Ohio State
University, cum laude and with distinction in political science.
After graduation from Capital University Law School, Mrs. Maimona
practiced law in Bellefontaine, Ohio, during which time she served
as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, including First Assistant Prosecutor
and Chief of the Civil Division for Logan County, and represented
all of the Logan County school boards for several years. She also
was a partner in the Logan County law firm of MacGillivray, O'Connor
& Thorpe concurrent with her role as Assistant Prosecutor. During
that time, she was also President of the Logan County Bar Association
and was the solicitor for the Villages of Belle Center, Quincy and
West Mansfield, Ohio.
During her twenty years of experience in the practice of public law,
Mrs. Maimona has also served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for
the City of Indianapolis, Indiana, and as an attorney with a law firm
in Hammond, Indiana. While with the law firm, she served as special
counsel to the City of Hammond and was the attorney for the Hammond
Redevelopment Commission. Mrs. Maimona was legal counsel to the City
of Hammond Redevelopment Commission for the financing and construction
of a new city marina, and worked on several economic development projects
and labor law matters for the city. Mrs. Maimona worked as an Assistant
Prosecuting Attorney for Summit County handling school and labor law
matters prior to joining the law firm of Pepple & Waggoner, Ltd.
In addition to her public law practice, Mrs. Maimona also has experience
in corporate and business law. Currently, Mrs. Maimona concentrates
in representing school districts in special education, sexual harassment
matters, and general representation issues.
Mrs. Maimona has been admitted to practice in the state courts of
Ohio and Indiana, Federal Courts in the Northern and Southern Districts
of Ohio, Northern District of Indiana, and the United States Supreme
Court. Mrs. Maimona is a member of the American, Ohio State, Cleveland
and Akron Bar Associations and the Ohio Council of School Board Attorneys.
She is currently a member of the Education Law Committee of the Ohio
State Bar Association and also serves on the Employment-Labor Law
Committee of the Akron Bar Association.
