Mr. William C. Pepple was born in Bluffton,
Ohio, and grew up on a farm in Auglaize County, Ohio. Upon graduation
from high school, he entered Bowling Green State University where
he earned a B.S. in Mathematics in 1971.
From 1971 through 1975, Mr. Pepple served as an officer in the Strategic
Air Command of the United States Air Force assigned as a Missile Combat
Crew Commander and Missile Launch Officer in the United States Inter-Continental
Ballistic Missile forces. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in
1975. While on active duty, he earned a Master's Degree in Business
Administration from the University of North Dakota.
After completing his military commitment, Mr. Pepple worked as a high
school mathematics and economics teacher in the Hardin-Northern and
Nordonia Hills City School Districts. Additionally, he served for
nearly three years as Assistant Treasurer of the Shaker Heights City
School District.
Upon graduation from The University of Akron School of Law, Mr. Pepple
began practicing exclusively in the area of public school law. He
has assisted boards of education in over 300 contract negotiations
with both teaching and non-teaching employee bargaining units for
more than 20 years. He has also worked extensively in grievance arbitrations,
unfair labor practice defense, representation elections, teacher terminations,
public school litigation, and general school law representation. He
is licensed to practice law in all Ohio State Courts, in the Federal
District Court and in the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Pepple is a member of the National and Ohio Councils of School
Board Attorneys, the Akron and Cleveland Bar Associations, the North
American Association of Educational Negotiators, the Ohio State Bar
Association, Education Law Association, Phi Delta Kappa, and is a
former member of the Executive Committee of the Ohio Council of School
Board Attorneys serving as President of OCSBA in 2002. He is also
a regular presenter at seminars sponsored by the Ohio School Boards
Association, the Ohio Association of School Business Officials, and
various colleges and universities throughout the state.
